Our cabin is cozy and comfortable. You'll notice the influence of my Norwegian, Swedish and Swiss heritage in our cabin. Our wood-burning stove provides a warm cabin ambiance. The open living, dining, kitchen area makes it easy to host guests or prepare meals together. Our kitchen accommodates preparing meals for any size group and multiple ethnicities. Our bedrooms accommodate a variety of family arrangements. Our decks extend our living space into the outdoors.
I love the wonderful smell of the forest, the lovely summer temperatures, our huge yard (four lots) with Insense Cedars, Jeffrey and Lodge Pole Pines, White and Red Firs and Alders. The easy walk to the lake or to Sugar Pine Point State Park, the lack of traffic on the West Shore, the short hike to the top of Eagle Rock for a bird's eye view of the lake, walking to the Tahoma Market to pick up the Sunday paper and some milk, eating breakfast on the front deck and watching the world go by, walking our dog around the neighborhood and talking to the neighbors, watching old movies (more than 500), inviting friends to come while we are there, the great room concept where we can cook and visit with guests at the same time, the summer festivals, winter's Snowfest, driving around Emerald Bay, poking around the Vikingsholm and Valhalla, the stream profile at Taylor Creek and nature walks at DL Bliss State Park, hiking up to the tarns above Emerald Bay, going to the hot springs in Nevada, the quiet fall season when the salmon are running, exploring near-by towns of Reno, Virginia City, Pyramid Lake, Tahoe City and Truckee. Then there is the great snow skiing where we have fabulous lake views from Homewood Mountain Resort. And the hundreds of miles of hiking trails all around us. Above all, the beauty and peacefulness of the lake and the mountains!
