We are easy going people and can put up with a lot. We suspected mold on the first day and told them so. They did get a dehumidifier, extremely loud one that needed emptied 5 times a day, but they denied it could be mold. We tested for mold ourselves (Tue) and it was positive (Fri). I took it in to show property management; we only had 2 days left at this point. Still, nothing done. No offer of any refund either. My wife was sick all week. We weren’t offered a different location at any time and didn't know that would even be an option. This was the first time our whole family was able to be together for vacation. Many maintenance issues in the property we could deal with, but not the mold. Food stains on the couch and it had a very dirty, musty smell as well. I am trying to be brief with only 2000 characters (20,000 not enough). This is our 3rd year staying at Palmetto Dunes, but the 1st thru the resort. It will be our last with the resort. We were not pleased with how they handled the mold problem even after we left. They offered a refund of fees (after a threat of a lawsuit) but after all we went through, this was like throwing a bone to a dog. If we could’ve gotten some fresh air by leaving the sliding door open, that would’ve helped. The one in the downstairs BR (where mold was the worst) was broken and wouldn’t open. The LR door didn’t have a screen. Our biggest disappointment, if the rest of this wasn’t enough, was how they handled the mold issue after our stay. We asked for a discount or something and we were blamed for not requesting another place to stay, again, we didn’t know that was an option...we aren’t the professionals. We then were basically ignored until we threatened a lawsuit. Still, all that was offered was a few hundred dollars of fees. It has now been over 2 months and we are just sick of dealing with it.
