Gekauft in 1958
I was looking for a seaside villa in a non tourist part of Palermo and found this enchanting seaside town of Santa Flavia, and this villa provided the perfect escape for my wife and son. It has two floors both over looking the sea we went to bed with seaside waves and woke up to seagulls and seaside waves. All appliances working, rooftop deck amazing spent our mornings there, living room deck mid day, and walked down to a cleared beach area for late afternoon snacks wine and sun before heading off to dinner. Owner provides private garage for car park as well. This was a piece of paradise. 3 hours from Taormina if you want to see the whole island 45 min from historic sites and markets of Palermo... would consider for sure another trip back there
Overall, our stay at "Zoovilla" was a nice way to visit Palermo and the surrounding area, without the complications of being in the city itself. That being said, there were many things that the owners could do to make the stay a Five, instead of the generous Four that we rated the property. First, our arrival was a bit difficult due to the lack of any type of sign at the garage/gate to the house. The owner was calling us on the phone to ask when we would arrive, and we were driving up and down the street to try to find him. Marco and Francesca did come to the street and that problem was solved. Next up, the handing over of the keys....All eight of them. Yes, two sets of eight keys! One for the garage, one for the front gate, one for the gate on the stairs to get into the courtyard leading to the terrace and/or the front door, one for the gate leading to the beach, one for the gate on the beach leading to the storage area with the items for the water. (Neither one of the inflatable boats would hold air, so that didn't please me, but back to the keys). One for the front door, and one that opened the door from the kitchen to the courtyard or the bedroom door to the washer/dryer area. There was one other key, but I cannot remember what it was for. Regarding the clothes washer, for our week stay, there was only one soap gel tablet, so we ended up buying more at the store and leaving the rest. Francesca also advised us that the dryer did not work. We also would have run out of toilet paper, except that there was a bathroom in the courtyard area where we grabbed an extra roll. Little things like that happening throughout our stay made for a less than excellent stay. I realize that the owners would have probably made arraignments to provide those items if we had messaged them, but I do not like to have to be in contact with owners when I am on a weeks stay and you expect things to just be there. When I asked about the hot tub that was advertised when we booked the villa, Marco let me know it was damaged by previous guests, so he removed it. He delivered four fresh fish for one of our dinners because of that and we appreciated that. The owners live there during times that guests are not there, so many of the rooms and counters in the kitchen and bathrooms were cluttered with their personal items, leaving limited space for guests items. Probably would look elsewhere next time in Palermo.
We really enjoyed our stay in this villa. It was amazing to be able to step from the sun terrace down into the sea to cool down in the clear water. We loved swimming, snorkelling (lots of fish to see) and taking the kayak out on the sea too. We took advantage of the quiet bit of beach (which felt like our own) to sunbathe, as well as sunbathing on the roof terrace and the lower balconies at times, depending where the sun was.
The villa was very comfortable and fully equipped with everything we could have needed and much more. Not having to bring our own towels was a great bonus as we were travelling with just hand luggage.
Marco and Francesca were always available by phone message for anything we needed, and provided loads of useful information about things to do in the area.
We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this villa!
Spent 9 nights in this fantastic accommodation with my family, have booked many accommodation locations on this site but by far this is the best one to date. The pictures do not do the accommodation or location justice. We normally always do so much sight-seeing but this place was so tranquil, beautiful and perfect we did not want to leave!!! The sea is so calm, fantastic to snorkel in and amazing temperature. It literally sparkle’s all day (you will understand this when you get there, mesmerizing). The accommodation is well decorated and maintained, the balcony gives you a private VIP experience all day and fab to eat out in the evening. The terrace is huge!!! There is not anything that is not accommodated there for you. The hosts were friendly and informative, to the final detail of providing local recipes for home dining Sicilian style on the balcony in the evening. Shooting stars join you to make you feel that you really are in an amazing place. Sight-seeing, you are in a good location for seeing lots. Cefalu was our favourite, worth an early start and late finish.
Thank you xxx
Marco and Francesca were excellent hosts, going as far as picking my wife and I up from the train station and allowing us, both an early and late check in and departure. They were also very quick to reply to any queries we had.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in their wonderful villa which overlooks the sea. The property is spacious and clean, complete with everything you would need for a ten day stay (sheets, towels and even an ice maker). The highlight of the property though is the rooftop, complete, with sun beds, deck chairs, a hammock and a hot tub, all of which looks out onto the sea! There are some private steps too which allow access to the beach and sea below. Make sure to pick up some snorkelling gear to take advance of the incredibly clear sea that the villa sits on.
Thanks Marco and Francesca!
Fantastic villa overlooking the sea. The owners Marco and Francesca were very good and warm people. It is a setting in paradise. Highly recommend it.
