Perfect location, nice hosts
We stayed two nights. I let Margarita know we were running late. She was very polite, and OK to wait for us. There was plenty of room for 2 adults and two children. The restaurant around the corner was great. Walking to all of the sites was no problem.
This is a very nice apartment and the hosts are very attentive to details at the property, and helping with maps and places to eat.
Clean, Comfortable, and Convenient
This place was perfect for our family of 4. It's a clean, cozy, and comfortable 1-bedroom apartment, with queen bed in the bedroom, and a sleeper sofa (we'd call it a futon in the U.S.) and a mini-futon in the living room. Very functional, and comfortable for 4. Could also accommodate 5.
By European standards, the bathroom is large and clean, and features a bathtub, separate shower, sink, toilet, bidet, and hairdryer. The kitchen has a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, gas stove, single unit clothes washer/dryer, and the hosts provide laundry detergent.
Conveniently located: This apartment is within walking distance of the major attractions (10-12 minute walk to il Duomo; 8 minute walk to Mercado Centrale - lots of produce/meat vendors on the ground level, upstairs food court with lots of options; 5-6 minute walk to Galleria dell'Accademia), but just far enough outside the city center, away from the bustle of tourists. Very quiet and restful at night.
Dario and his wife are excellent hosts. Dario met us at the property exactly on time, and showed us all the features of the apartment. They left us a complimentary bottle of local wine, and some Italian chocolates (Baci) for our kids. Perfect hosts.
There's a Carrefour mini-market 1/2 block away, open till 9pm most nights. Our favorite breakfast spot was Caffè Rosanò (4.5 blocks away on Via San Gallo, and en route to the center of Florence).
Ask Dario for some good, local dining options. Favorite lunch: All'Antico Vinaio sandwich counter - €5 for the best sandwich in town, and well worth the 15-minute line/queue that spills out the door and down the block. Best lunch with view of il Duomo? Oblate Cafeteria at the Biblioteca - a student hangout, upstairs, with excellent views of the Dome.
Quiet, spacious, functional, and a superb value
Property located in San Lorenzo/San Marco district of the historic center - 15 minute walk from Santa Maria Novella train station and the Duomo. The apartment is clean and bright and extremely functional. Although it is a one-bedroom, we were comfortable with four people sleeping here. Large bathroom with both shower and tub; kitchen has a dishwasher and washer/dryer. The owners are lovely and very responsive. Close to the Mercato Centrale - great place to shop for food or to use as a rendez-vous point for your fellow travelers. Half a block from Carrefoure mini-super market if you need anything; Coffee in the morning either to your right at Caffe Rainier (corner of Via Ruota) or to your left there is a cafe on corner of Via Ventisette Aprile where the coffee might even be better although the shop is not as pretty. Further down Via Zanobi is Trattoria Garga, where we had a delicious meal. The apartment is located in an inner courtyard. Very quiet. A montessori nursery school across the courtyard opens at 9 am; the sweet sounds of the young children make each morning very cheerful.
We loved the location, the place and the owners
It was a very nice respite from our travels in and around Florence. There were just two of us but we found it quite spacious and loved the shower as well. The host was great and helped with our planning for New Year as well as printing out some vouchers for us. It's close to the larger of the rail stations in Florence and convenient to the bus stops. A grocery is right down the street and restaurants are just a short walk away. We used this as a base of our stay periodically taking day trips to places like Siena, Lucca, Pisa and Fiesole all via the nearby bus/train terminal. The internet was great and the place is well maintained. We would stay there again on our next visit if available.
Great place, great location
This was our second stay at this wonderful apartment. Just 15 minutes' walk from the very center of town, but totally out of the tourist zone. Quiet, on a private courtyard, gracious and helpful hosts. We'll come again.
Excellent Apartment, great Hosts
Dear Margarita and Dario,
First of all thank you very much for all your hospitality, responsiveness, kindness and all that help and advice you provided to us.
We arrived before the check in time, but there was no problem for Margarita and Dario to come to the apartment to hand us keys, bottle of wine and the list of sites and suggestions you can see in Florence.
Apartment is very centrally located in the very quiet inclosed courtyard (accessible to the residents only) where you can't hear a sound, which gives you a very restful sleep after exploring the city on foot.
It's minutes from Duomo, Santa Maria Novella train station (in case you have to travel around) and all the other sites. Apartment is on the first flour which is a big help with your luggage to take it in and out.
We'd say that pictures online are very modest compare to what you see when you open the door: very big two rooms , high ceiling, perfectly equipped kitchen, washing machine and dishwasher, plenty of dishes, pots and pans if you decide to cook. Very comfortable bed with firm mattress, plenty of linens and towels to change if you need.
The bathroom deserves a special attention, it's huge - with very big shower cabin, toilet, bidet and big bathtub (I wish we'd have such at home). Usually all the bathrooms in the European apartments are tiny, but not this one.
The supermarket on your right is 2 minutes away, amazing bakery on your left one minute away, where you can have coffee and wonderful pastry for breakfast and many convenience stores, which work late on your way to the sites, plus great restaurants, like famous ZaZa and Il Vegetariano.
Thanks again, Dario and Margarita-we'll definitely come back again.
