Quiet, secluded and beautiful
This was a really nice place to stay. Alpine Cottage was comfortable and relaxing. It was a convenient distance to all that we wanted to see and do.
With the right turn
Very nice property. Great deco beautiful views. Howerver a little difficult to find. Only with help from neighbors were able to to find the right turn (GPS did not get us there). Maybe a sign would help!
Lovely quiet cabin the woods
This is a lovely, spacious cabin in what may be the quietest spot we have ever visited. While the location is listed as Columbia Falls, it is far off the beaten path and a great place to come home to after a day of hiking in Glacier National Park or elsewhere. There are two other houses on the property, but we rarely heard anything from either one. One house shares a wall with the cottage. While there are two bedrooms and two baths, both bathrooms are downstairs but one bedroom is up a flight of stairs. The other is an en-suite. Compared to other homes we've stayed in, the kitchen could have been better equipped and more carefully cleaned.
While on a walk to the road, we spotted a couple of deer; as they ran off, we turned and saw a bear a hundred feet from us. Fortunately, he was no more interested in an encounter than we were. All in all we had a great time at the cottage and were sad to have to leave.
Nice, could use updating
We recently stayed for five days at the Alpine Cottage. The Alpine House was rented for part of that time. We had no problems with noise from the neighbors, who were hikers and kept early hours as we did.
The Alpine Cottage is charming. There is an ample sized living room, nice dining space, and the deck is great. Having a washer and dryer in the unit was great as well. The master (really only) bedroom is generously sized and has two good sized closets, plus a nice attached bath.
Our primary concerns were the kitchen is fairly outdated. The refrigerator was barely cold and the freezer would not freeze most items, even when turned to the coldest setting. The dishwasher and range are newer, so hopefully the refrigerator will be replaced as well. The kitchen cabinets and countertops are old and show their age. The furniture overall is tired. The living room furniture was slipcovered, but quite dusty and not very comfortable. The dining room set was fine, but one of the chairs needs repairs.
The windows are old and some had no screens. The windows to the deck could not be opened more than a little bit because of planter boxes. There is no screen door on the French doors leading to the patio. Ordinarily, this may not be a problem, but it was very hot during our visit and would have been more comfortable with better circulation.
The loft area upstairs is very basic. It has two twin beds and two trundle beds under the pitch of the roof, but it would be very tight to sleep four up there.
The Direct TV worked well, as did the internet. All lawn areas are basically shared between the Alpine House and Cottage, and the fire ring is shared with other cabins on the property. It is a lovely setting and the view from the deck is stunning.
Overall, our stay was pleasant, but with some sprucing up, the property could be really outstanding. The location is fairly close to the East park entrance. Beware, however, that the route to get there requires travel on rough, gravel roads. If that is a concern to you, this probably isn't the place for you. It was no problem for us, but others (with nicer vehicles!) might not be as forgiving.
Thank you for a nice stay.
Unit was very warm and sleeping was difficult in the loft. Windows were kept open all day. Ceiling Fans would have been nice. Unit was clean & furnished nicely. House was difficult to find even with GPS.
Loved the Alpine cottage....had a bit of difficulty finding it at first but it is private , has great views. Enjoyed seeing the ground squirrels popping up and the baby birds in the nest at front door, deer and a bear sighting! Loved the windows and the views they provided. Easy drive to Glacier Park. Had everything we needed. (the only slight issue was the water from taps/shower was odorous- just drank bottled water!)
