My wife, parents, and I stayed "In the Midst of Glacier" for 5 nights in September 2018. The location proved to be perfect for us to explore the many wonderful areas on the eastern side of Glacier National Park. There was significant construction in the immediate vicinity of Kiowa Junction that caused 1-20 minute delays, obviously out of control of the owner. The road back to the cabin is nearly 1 mile and very bumpy but passable in about 4-5 minutes from the highway.
Now to the really good stuff - the cabin is just really nice and fitting for a stay in Montana. It has a rustic quality to it while being very modern and upkept. We literally did not see a bug the entire stay. We never lacked hot water for showers, and water pressure and quality was excellent. The cabin's many windows make for a beautiful setting, with hills and mountains surrounding the field. We observed moose on 3 out of 5 mornings in the field right outside the cabin. Be careful of holes in the field, as squirrels, badgers, and other animals burrow in the area. There were also plenty of cows to greet us most days.
The sleeping arrangements were very nice. The coffee pot did not work when we arrived, but the owner was quick to replace it for us to enjoy the rest of our stay. The cabin was comfortable at night with provision of several space heaters. The night sky was truly spectacular as well - even just laying on the sofabed in the sunroom, we were able to see stars and the Milky Way - beautiful!
This really is a great option for staying on the east side, as long as you don't mind the ~5 minute drive along bumpy road from the highway. It was only about 20 minutes to Cutbank, 30 minutes to Two Medicine, 35 minutes to St. Mary, and 1 hour 15 minutes to Many Glacier or Logan Pass.
This will certainly be a lodging consideration for future trips to the park, and we highly recommend considering it for your stay as well!
