Cosy cottage in a quiet area of Bideford. Perfect location for walking or cycling on the Tarka Trail & exploring North Devon. The only criticism is the slight smell of dogs in the property. Some odour neutraliser, along with all the other cleaning products supplied, would be a nice touch.
I’m very pleased to hear that you found the cottage cosy and in a perfect location for the local historical routes.
Being a holiday home that allows pets means that often dogs do get to enjoy the cottage, along with their owners, but I’m sorry if they’ve left any odour and we’ve missed that on the changeover. We’ll ensure that neutraliser spray is provided in the future.
Lovely Cottage, Great Location
We loved our stay at Riverbank Cottage, really quiet location and perfect to walk into town along the river. The cottage was very well equipped with everything we needed with a decent tv for once. The bed was so comfortable and the shower was excellent. 10 mins or less drive to Instow Beach for a coffee and let the dog run was perfect every morning. Didnt get to use the surf board, ran out of days, next time!
Barnes' Devon trip Sept 2019
The property is like a Tardis and much bigger on the inside than it looks! Great location for local walks or trips out further afield. Cottage has all the facilities needed for a comfortable stay and whether eating in or out.
Recommend the following pubs / restaurants => The Pig on the Hill, The Riverbank, Pannier Pantry and Pelican Fish Restaurant (& takeaway). Thanks Alex for letting use your lovely cottage!
Pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay. You’re welcome back at any time.
Wonderfull little place for a get away
Clean, loads of fun things for the kids. Well equipt. Stunning area of the country.
Glad to hear you had a great time. You’re welcome back.
Well equipped cottage, good location, dog friendly
The cottage is bigger inside than it looks from the pictures. The new sofas are particularly comfy and we slept well in this quiet corner of town. The property is well equipped (although bring a spare loo roll, only one provided) but do note that the prosecco and cookies that other reviews mention are no longer provided.
One issue for us was that the dogs were reluctant to toilet on the astro-turf in the 'garden' so we had to walk them as soon as we got up in the morning, perhaps your dogs aren't as fussy as ours! The courtyard is very small (as pictured) and we probably do need to book somewhere with more outside space next time.
Bideford is well located for the beaches (Northam Burrows was a wonderful spot) but there are more characterful villages in this area. However the cottage is well located for a short walk into town along the quay.
Finally - there was plenty of hot water, comfy beds and a high standard of cleanliness which are top priorities for me when looking for accommodation!
We would recommend this cottage.
We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay and would recommend the cottage to others. After previous reviews a coffee maker will now be available at the cottage.
After we changed the minimum stay from 3 nights to only 1 I'm afraid it is no longer feasible for us to provide Prosecco and cookies for guests on arrival.
The courtyard is small, but is large enough to comfortably sit people around the table and is a lovely sun trap. Unfortunately we can't determine where pets prefer to spend a penny!
You're welcome back at any time
Very nice stay in a great location for Devon beaches
