Great house for the price we paid and lovely place to stay!
We had a very nice few days away here! Jackie was very helpful to sort out the booking and to get hold of if we needed any information. William was very nice when we arrived he showed us round where everything was and gave us some wood for the fire. The house it’s self was very chilly when we arrived but then we did visit in November so of course it will be cold! But the heating and the fire soon warmed it up (it cost us £20 for the water and heating which we were happy to pay because we had it on nearly all the time). The dogs loved the garden it was good because we could just let one of the off to do his own thing but we had to keep one on the lead because there were gaps so she could of got out. The house it’s self was a very lovely house and would stay again, the only few things we have to say was about maybe getting a bigger tv as the one in there was quite small as there were four of us in the front room and getting a bigger bath as it’s quite a narrow bath but other than that we loved it a very homely feel about it! Thank you Jackie 😊 highly recommend to anyone whose looking for somewhere to stay around the lakes!
Thanks again all the best
Lovely cottage, Lovely area, Lovely garden
Lovely cottage, but found the single beds very hard. Some comfortable seating in the lounge would make a difference. Apart from these couple of negatives we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and especially enjoyed the company of William the caretaker who was helpful and made us feel very welcome. We would definatly be happy to return and have no hesitation in recommending this cottage for any family who would like a relaxing break.
Cottage has potential to be fantastic, but felt well worn rather than quaint.
Lots of lovely interesting furniture, but also many faded sad looking items like light shades and cushions, which let the place down. Worst of all though was the dirty crockery and cutlery. Not one item I took from the kitchen cupboards was clean. There might have been some clean stuff further down the piles, but once I'd cleaned enough plates, bowls, mugs, glasses and cutlery for us all to use for the week I didn't delve any further. There were rice and crumbs on the dining table from the previous guests. I think the place needs a really good clean and a few of the old faded items replacing or just removing. I grew up in a cottage of a similar age so appreciate how difficult they are to keep clean. Maybe a more regular 'deep clean' is needed in addition to whatever William can fit in on a Saturday in between guests leaving and new ones arriving.
Lovely cosy cottage, very picturesque and charming and very well equipped, large private gardens
The cottage is everything I've said above also it is in a great location for traveling around the lakes and William is great a lovely chap full of local knowledge and is only a phone call away if you need anything this is our second visit and will definitely be returning Thank you so much for a lovely holiday
Lovely quiet and relaxing place to stay
This is our second visit to this beautiful cottage, we love the old charm and the wonderful garden. We had some good weather which enabled us to play rounders in the garden or just sit drinking wine enjoying the views and the quiet countryside noises. William again was a great help and a fountain of knowledge and is such a lovely man. Hopefully we will return again and again, Thank you for sharing this lovely cottage with us all x
Wonderful cottage in a good location, with easy access to Penrith and The Lakes.
We loved the cottage, its character and the excellent garden. Having Laithes Wood Mill next door added to the experience. William the caretaker and stalwart of the mill, is very welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable man.
