Really well presented and super friendly owners
Quaint and cosy with all that you need for a fab getaway. Would definitely stay here again.
Thank you Simon. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Hopefully you’ll see it without a blanket of snow next time!
Delightful, well equipped cottage
The owners were very accommodating and made us feel at home immediately. Everything was clean and up-to-date and the bathroom was a dream. We met several of the neighbours who were all very friendly.
We spent most of the time in glorious weather exploring the local villages and walking along the Manifold valley.
I would have given 5 stars, but the parking and access road is a bit narrow. We managed OK but large cars could have a problem. I daresay that this is a common problem in country villages, and you take it as you find it.
delightful stone cottage on the edge of the Peak District
From the very first contact at booking Sue could not have been more responsive and helpful. We had a flat tire on our way to meet her and she came and picked up my husband to take him to the cottage and show him everything and then brought him back & stayed with us until the tire repairman arrived.
Upon finally arriving at the cottage we were met with a large bouquet of daffodils and a bottle of French wine - quite an unexpected pleasure after the hectic day we had had.
The cottage has all new furnishings and the kitchen is fully stocked with silverware and cooking utensils as well as pots and pans., as well as a variety of glassware. It was great to have a washing machine available also.
The main bedroom had ample storage space for clothes with an armoire, dresser and 2 bedside tables. We did not use the second bedroom except as a place to put our empty suitcases. Absolutely loved having a heated towel bar in the bathroom - so hand to dry things on. We had a little trouble figuring out the shower, but that was more because we are Americans and not used to the type of water heating system used in England.
It was unseasonably cold during our stay so we were very happy to have the fireplace to help keep us warm.
Sue had lots of information available on the Peak District available along with general reading material. We used the map she provided everyday, and the Derbyshire magazines were first rate for information on new walks and places to visit.
We would certainly recommend Birch Cottage to anyone looking for a quaint stone cottage in a small village in northern Staffordshire, just a short drive from the Peak District.
Thank you for your kind comments Barbara. It was lovely to meet you both and a pleasure to have you stay at Birch Cottage. I hope you enjoyed the second part of your trip.
Have a good summer and enjoy the horse riding!
Lovely cosey cottage and lovely welcoming owner!
Me my dog and my boyfriend had a lovely four night stay here really well equipped cottage and a lovely welcome by Sue. Would definitely recommend! Thanks again :) Ella
Great property and location, definitely recommend
We had a lovely long weekend at Birch Cottage which was all as described and more. The owners have prepared the property to ensure guests are really comfortable and provide all necessary facilities and extra touches including a welcome pack. The property is well located for exploring the area either by car or on foot from the front door. Lots of dog friendly pubs close by and plenty places to eat out. Definitely recommend and will return.
Thanks for your kind comments Derek and for being such super guests. It was lovely to meet you and hopefully, we'll see you back again.
Wonderful find !
We had a lovely stay in this cosy cottage, it was an ideal location for us as we walked straight out of the cottage onto footpaths. The cottage is lovely and quaint, well equipped , beautifully decorated and very clean. A nice welcome by the hosts ensured we had everything we needed , we are definitely planning on returning .
