Perfect Mountain Home!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bear Paw Haven! Woodland Park was the perfect alternative to Colorado Springs for our 4th and final USAFA Parent's Weekend. The pictures really do not show the true quality of the furnishings. This home has a rustic feel while providing modern amenities. We like to cook our own meals when possible and this kitchen made that very easy to do. It was well stocked with quality cookware and appliances with plenty of dishes, utensils and common condiments and spices. We enjoyed morning visits from deer, evening visits from Otis the dog and nightly s'mores around the firepit. We ventured out for trout fishing at nearby Manitou Lake, peaceful drives and hikes through Pike National Forest, and white water rafting and zip lining in Royal Gorge. This home is in a picturesque and peaceful neighborhood with convenient access to restaurants and grocery stores. The gravel driveway is steep but our rented Ford Explorer did not have any problems getting up to the top. The one and only issue we did have was quickly acknowledged and rectified. I would definitely recommend this home and would not hesitate to stay there again.
Thank you Curt, we are elated you enjoyed our home. Thank you for the kind and generous review. We take pride in creating the perfect retreat. Everyone that stays we consider family so come back again we would love to have you! Don’t need a graduation to come back make it a family reunion. 😉
We had a great time at Bear Paw Haven! The house location was perfect for all our vacation plans.
The house was perfect. I would highly reccomend the Bear Paw for anyone wanting to vacation in the Woodland Park area. It's close to many attractions but located in a quiet area just outside of Woodland Park.
Wonderful to hear Joseph. Think of us again if you ever come back to town!
Great home, great location.
Beautiful home that had everything we needed. Well stocked. Worked great for our large group. Parents had their own master room, boys had a room and bathroom, and girls took over the downstairs. Home is in a wonderful location, close to all we wanted to do. Spent time in Divide, Manitou, Old Colorado City, Cripple Creek and Mueller State Park. Would definitely stay at Bear Paw Haven again when in the area. Thank you for allowing us the use of your home.
Comfortable, relaxing, extremely clean
Nice home, but would stay somewhere else next time.
This home is nice, and although we never met them, the owner seemed friendly enough from our emails. Some positives from our stay... our family of 5 had enough room to spread out if they wanted some space. There was a nice supply of games, and we had a blast playing cards every night. Overall, it is a comfortable and cozy home. We appreciated the binder with area attractions and the notebook on the counter where people had written about some of the things they've done.
Some reasons why we wouldn't stay again...
-The gravel driveway is incredibly steep with a sharp turn in the middle, and our minivan tires skidded every time we went up it. There were also some deep ruts in the driveway.
-The mattress on the master bed is extremely hard and uncomfortable.
-The master shower is tiny. When you get in and shut the door, there's not much more room to move around.
- I went to make breakfast one morning and when taking a frying pan out, found the outside covered in whatever had been cooked in it before us, and decided not to cook the rest of the trip because I didn't feel confident in the cleanliness after that.
-There were no refills of some of the "staples", so we ran out of paper towels, toilet paper, and garbage bags. I emailed about where we could find the extra toilet paper, (and to inform him that we woke up to find a bird flying around the living room), and finally heard back 8 or 9 hours later, after we had already gone to the store to buy our own, which wasn't the biggest deal, but we weren't planning on the hassle. The comment on the bird in the house was never addressed.
-We received a message in our inbox the day of check-in saying that they had a problem with the cleaning lady and needed move our check-in time back from 2 to 4pm. Again, not the biggest deal, but adding a 2 hour delay with 3 kids was not the best.
Overall, it worked out- It was just not the greatest experience we could have had and we'll be looking at other options for our next trip out.
Thank you for staying at our home. We love how cozy it is too. We are sorry that in some ways it did not meet your expectations. We will make sure in the future that there is plenty of paper goods, and make sure the next guest gets clean pots and pans. We have never had issues in the past with animals (besides our adorable fur kids) getting in the house. We are sorry that you were the first! We have resolved the issue with our cleaning person and have hired someone new so this should not happen again. Thank you again for your feedback.
Very nice rustic cabin feel not far from town.
We spent a week here during our daughters gradation from USAFA. It was wounderful, had enough space for all to sleep, had plenty of space to all eat together around the table. It has a rustic cabin feel and isolation but is only a few minutes from town, and a short drive to Colorado Springs and the USAFA. It had a very nice room for entertaining the grand kids with lots of toys and swing out back, child friendly. We would not mind to stay hear again if we should make it out that way again, Thanks again for letting us use your place and allowing us to feel at home. The Walls family form Oklahoma.
We are so happy you enjoyed your stay! Our home IS in the perfect setting. You feel like you’ve escaped but if you need anything it’s 5 minutes away. We also try to make sure everyone in the family will enjoy our home. Thank you for choosing Bear Paw Haven. We would love to have you back!
